DC Day 2 (Tour, "Libery Smith", and DuPount Circle)

So far this trip has been amazing! Today we had an awesome tour of all the major monuments in DC... We didn't have alot of time at some of them but I've seen them before and I was cool with it. Once that was over we were left to roam by ourselves and we ate at this local burger joint called Ollie's Trolley... A little greasey but still SO good (loved the seasoned fries...). After that we went to famous Ford's Theatre and saw a performance of "Liberty Smith" which was hilarious and all around great musical.

 The White House

Back of the Jefferson Memorial. This whole place is made of hewn marble from the state of Vermont.

 Front of the Jefferson Monument.
Statue of Jefferson inside the memorial.
 Washington Monument
Our tour guide was awesome. She lead us all over DC and had something interesting to saw about EVERYTHING!!!

This is at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial. It is a guy sitting next to a radio taking part in one of the many fireside chats Roosevelt programmed During WWII and the Depression.

 FDR and his dog
 Eleanor Roosevelt

Here is your sign. Literally... THX to the park service from all of us who face this problem ALL THE TIME!!!!

 Lincoln Memorial

This is the place where MLK gave his famous I Have a Dream Speech

These are applied canvas paintings that show the reuniting of North and south and also the Emmancipation of the slaves.

Vietnam War Memorial. the statue above shows soldiers starring into the wall part of the monument. The average age of a soldier in the Vietnam War was 19.

 Jefferson again.
FBI Building!!!! hopefully I'll work here some day...

 Awesome Old Post Office

Ollie's Trolley (lunch)

Ford's Theater where Lincoln was shot in 1865.
We watched a comedy called "Liberty Smith" which retold the history of the revolution as it "really was" from the point of view of Liberty who made it all happen.

This was cast in the gas lamp that still stands outside Fords Theater.
(Eww Denise...)

We then walked back to the hotel and got ready for dinner. On the way we saw this awesome Anglican Church and saw a house that looked like Stuart Little's.

For Deli:
This fire truck was zooming by with the dude hanging out the back and I was like what?!?

Now it's like 11 30 p.m. right now and we just got in from DuPount Circle which is kind of a local downtown hub... we went for ice cream and it was so good (not cake batter so I went for the peanut butter instead...).

 Trippy...

Cool founain in DuPount circle dedicated to an admiral of the navy in the 1800's

Ice Cream was SO good! And real Ice Cream (not processed sugar)
Jana, Kevina, and Denice.
